Why we're here...

Beer culture is coming of age. At any store, restaurant, bar, or friend's house you can now find at least a few good brews. In fact, there seem to be so many new beers, breweries and bars it's difficult to separate the good, the bad, and the mediocre.

If you're going spend $10 on one beer, what should you buy? If you're going to drive 2 hours to check out a brewery, what's worth your time? If you're going to plan a Friday night, what has a good selection and friendly atmosphere? We're here to help you answer these questions.

Dempsey's Red Rooster Ale

Red Rooster Ale is an American Amber/Red ale from Dempsey's Restaurant and Brewery. The bottle says the beer was brewed by the Sonoma Brewing Company which appears to be the same thing.

I found this in a store in the town of Mendocino for $4.99 for a 22oz bottle. It has an ABV of 6.2%.

The beer pours a dark orange color, with a thin white head and no lacings. The aroma is light with faint whiffs of caramel malts and slight fruity hops. The flavor has a light caramel malt flavor followed by light citrus hops and a floral hop finish. It has a light to medium body with average carbonation.

Overall, the beer is decent. It's easy to drink and smooth without any bad flavors. There just isn't anything that distinguishes from other ambers/reds. However, it is better than other reds I've had, so i suggest you Try It.
